Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-07-23 · applies to the SwingIQ Android app and admin services

DRAFT — written directly from SwingIQ's actual data flows, not a generic template. Have a lawyer (or a service like Termly/iubenda) review before this is submitted to Play Console or shown to real closed-beta testers — this is not legal advice.

SwingIQ ("we", "us") is an AI golf-swing critique app. This policy describes exactly what data we collect, why, who else touches it, and how to delete it — matched to what the app actually does today, not boilerplate.

What we collect

Account identity

Every user gets an anonymous Firebase identity on first launch — no email, phone number, or name required to use the app. If you choose to link Google Sign-In (optional, from Profile), we then also hold the email address tied to that Google account.

Your swing

Recording happens on your device. We do not upload your full video — only up to 5 still frames extracted on-device per swing are sent to our server to generate a critique. Those frame images are stored for 30 days and then automatically and permanently deleted (an automated storage lifecycle rule, not a manual process). On-device pose detection (Google's ML Kit, running entirely on your phone) also computes a simple overlay line, which is stored alongside your critique text so it can be shown again later without re-uploading the image.

Critique results, chat, and activity

Critique text, your ratings, AI Coach chat messages, drill unlocks, and your coin ledger are stored until you delete them (see "Your controls" below) or delete your account.

Diagnostics

Crash reports and basic usage analytics (e.g. which screens are used, not swing content) are collected via Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics, both operated by Google.

Advertising

Rewarded ads (an optional way to earn coins) are served by Google AdMob. Showing an ad involves the standard data AdMob itself requires to serve and verify ads (e.g. a device advertising identifier) — governed by Google's own ad policies, not something SwingIQ separately collects or resells. We do not sell your swing footage, critique history, or account data to advertisers or any other third party.

Payments

SwingIQ never sees your payment card details. As of this beta, in-app coin packs and the subscription tier shown in the Coin Store are not yet purchasable — that's still being wired up. Once live, all purchases will go through Google Play Billing, which handles payment processing under its own terms; we only receive a purchase confirmation and a coin grant to apply to your account.

Note on the AI providers above: this app currently uses a free API tier for Google's Gemini models for cost reasons during beta. Google's terms for free-tier API usage can differ from a paid tier's data-use terms (e.g. around whether inputs may be used to improve Google's models) — confirm the exact current terms for whichever tier is active before public launch, and update this section to match.

How long we keep things

Your controls

From Profile → Data & Privacy, at any time:

Children

SwingIQ is not directed at children under 13, and we ask that you not use it if you're under that age.

Not medical advice

SwingIQ's critiques are AI-generated instructional feedback about your golf swing mechanics. They are not medical, physical therapy, or injury-diagnosis advice. If you're dealing with pain or a physical condition, talk to a qualified professional instead of relying on the app.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
